Welcome to A-Faris.com - Anna Faris Biography

Best known for her character of Cindy Campbell in the “Scary Movie” series, Anna Faris has enjoyed plenty of mainstream success. She has established herself as a gifted comedic actress while expanding her repertoire in such critically acclaimed films as “Lost in Translation” and “Brokeback Mountain”.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 29th, 1976, Anna Kay Faris moved with her family to Edmonds, Washington where she took to acting at an early age. Scoring her first professional performance at the age of nine in the Seattle Repertory Theater, Anna also acted in television commercials and improvisational stage work. She landed a role in the TV movie “Deception: A Mother’s Secret” in 1991. Graduating with a degree in English Literature from the University of Washington, Anna made her feature film debut in the 1996 release “Eden”. Afterwards, she moved to London to pursue a career in writing, but her lifetime love of acting won over and she returned to America getting the small role of Janelle Bay in the 1999 teen slasher-flick “Lovers Lane”.

On the set of that film, Anna met and fell in love with fellow actor Ben Indra. They were married in 2004, but she filed for divorce in April of 2007 citing “irreconcilable differences”.

Shortly after moving to Los Angeles, she landed her breakout role in the hit comedy “Scary Movie”. Anna dyed her naturally blonde hair black to mimic “Scream” actress Neve Campbell. The success of the film has launched three sequels so far, all starring Anna playing the ever-in-danger Cindy Campbell. She has since perfected her comedic touch with supporting roles in “The Hot Chick”, “Winter Break”, “Waiting…”, and co-starring with Uma Thurman as the suffering Hannah Lewis in “My Super-Ex Girlfriend”.

Anna has also appeared in smaller, but well lauded roles in “Lost in Translation” as the haughty starlet Kelly and portraying the loquacious LaShawn Malone in “Brokeback Mountain.”, a performance which garnered a Screen Actor’s Guild nomination.  She also lent her singing voice to the “Lost in Translation” and “Just Friends” soundtracks. Anna returned to television appearing as Erica in four episodes of the final season of “Friends” and guest starring as herself in the well received HBO series “Entourage”.

Maxim magazine saw fit in 2004 to rank Anna 57th in its annual list of the “Hot 100”.

In 2008, Anna will be co-starring in the coming of age film “Kids in America”.  She is also finishing production on “Frequently Asked Questions about Time Travel” and “I Know What Boys Like”, which marks the first time Anna has taken on the role of executive producer. She also stars in the film as Shelly, a Playboy bunny booted out of the mansion before winding up at a college Sorority House.

Anna once said in an interview, “I try to keep my head on straight and take nothing for granted.” a fitting description of her appeal to movie audiences as well as her work ethic as she continues her growth into a versatile film actress.
